Hi there! I am very, very late to the game, but absolutely loving the podcast so far. Thank you both for taking the time to do this. I thought I’d share another idea about the binding of Isaac. Someone pointed out to me once that other gods demanding a child sacrifice was perhaps not too uncommon during Abraham’s time, and so the idea of Abraham’s God asking for his child’s life wouldn’t have seemed all that strange to him. Heartbreaking, yes, but not outrageous. By saving Isaac in the end, Abraham’s God was distinguishing himself from the other gods in the land. Maybe it served to show Abraham that this God was different and worth following.
